The story.
Lady Letitia Wentworth plans to hide in the library during a gathering at her family’s Canterbury estate rather than spend the week in the shadow of her popular sister. There she discovers letters from her great aunt Gladys that point to an old mystery: Gladys’s death and the disappearance of the Canterbury jewels. Lord Armstrong, who is tired of the attention of society’s marriage-minded ladies, notices Letitia and offers to help. As they follow the clues, their attraction grows and the mystery becomes more dangerous. Letitia must decide whether she can trust his interest in her and what the letters reveal about her family.
